Curt Echo Mobile Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2022 Toyota Tundra- Video
How's it going, neighbors This is Ed here with etrailer.com and we're taking a look at the Curt Echo Wireless Brake Controller on our 2022 Toyota Tundra. Adding a brake controller to your vehicle is gonna allow you to have additional safety and control of your trailer. And adding a wireless device like the Curt Echo is gonna allow you to have that control without having to manually wire anything into the system. The traditional box-style brake controller, you know, has the nickname knee-knocker 'cause they're usually mounted in that position where it would interfere with where your leg clearance is. Alternatively, we have some that are gonna be minimally invasive, like the REDARC where it's just a knob on your dash, but that installation does require a little bit more and it is permanent. So if you have multiple trailers or trucks or you have a leased truck where you can't make those permanent changes, the Curt Echo is gonna be a great option to allow you to have brakes on your trailer and control it using your Bluetooth device. more

Hi everyone. Aiden here with Etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at and be showing you how to install the Redarc Tow Pro Liberty Brake Controller on our 2018 Toyota Highlander. So this is going to be a proportional brake controller capable of towing a trailer or applying brakes on one to two axles. This is gonna be one of the most low profile systems out there because the only thing you see is this dial. You've got a manual override here that you can push the button in to apply the brakes or if you lightly touch the brakes in your Highlander, it'll lightly apply the brakes in your trailer and vice versa if you slam on them. more

Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer and today we're taking a look and installing the Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller on a 2023 Toyota 4Runner. Now this is what the REDARC looks like when it's installed and compared to a lot of your traditional brake controllers that you see mounted up on a dash that you inevitably hit your knees on, the REDARC really does a fantastic job of making it look like an OEM brake controller. As you can see, even with this factory knockout plate the button matches all of the controls here. It's hidden out of the way, but it's still super accessible and equally as usable as any other brake controller. Just like any other brake controller you can pick between two modes. You can have it to where it's user controlled or you can have it proportional to the braking pretty easy. more

To assist us with this installation, we'll be using kit ETBC7, which is a universal trailer brake controller installation kit. The Redarc Tow-Pro Elite is designed to operate trailers up to three axles, so this thing should be pretty much good to go for just about anything that you're wanting to use it for. If you own a 2019 Toyota Sequoia, it can haul a lot and you know that it's basically a truck. So what I suggest is getting a brake controller. We have a lot of them, ones that just go inside but the one I like the best is the Curt Echo, why Well, it just goes into the back and hooks up to your trailer and you connect to it with your phone. So it's the easiest thing to install. You really don't have to install it, you just plug it in, download the app and sync everything up. I think this is gonna be the best way to just save your Sequoia's brakes. more

The only thing we can see is a small little control knob, and you can see it only sticks out around a half inch or so from your dash here, so you're not taking up much space whatsoever and it looks pretty much factory for you ask me. more

The Redarc is a awesome brake controller and the main reason why is gonna be the footprint. Most brake controllers, when you think of them, you probably have scars somewhere on your knees from hitting them as you get in because they mount down low and sometimes they can be in a nice position, but honestly it does get in the way when you're getting in and out. And over time, it's just one thing that's kind of in the way. If you can eliminate that, get a bigger foot, or a smaller footprint that looks nice in OEM but still have all the functions, why not And that's where this one comes into play. more

So the trailer profile screen, it's a nice way to save the settings for different trailers. So if you only have one trailer, this feature might not be as useful for you as some of the others with multiple trailers. But basically how this works is we're gonna select the profile 1 through 5 and then we're gonna adjust the settings for that particular trailer. So we've got a little travel trailer hooked up now. I'd go ahead and select profile 1, then adjust the settings for this specific trailer. more

Some pre-existing wiring is going to be necessary. Your vehicle does need to have a prep package installed for brake controller. This is not a factory prep package this is something you'd have to do yourself. This is what our Tekonsha is going to look like installed. A lot of people put them over here or even lower down on the dash and it's really easy to bump your knees on them, but we have a really good place to mount it here, where it's not going to get in the way when we're getting in and out of our Sienna. Our brake controller is going to activate the brakes on our trailer whenever we push the brakes in our car. It is going to be proportional so however hard we push the brakes in our car, that's going to apply the same amount of braking pressure in our vehicle. more

Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2018 Toyota Highlander- Video
Hi there Toyota owners, today in your 2018, Toyota Highlander, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install, Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Brake Controller. To assist us with that installation, we'll also be using ETBC7, which is a kit that contains all the necessary components we need to have a 7-pole connector at the back of our vehicle. This is what our prodigy P3 looks like when it's installed. What's nice about this brake controller, is that it's a proportional brake controller, which means it has an internal inertia sensor that detects the movement of the vehicle. So it can appropriately apply the output to your trailer brakes to match the vehicle. So if you're stopping on the brakes real hard, this detects that sudden jolt in stopping motion with the inertia sensor and it will apply the trailer brakes hard.If you are just easing on the brakes, this will detect it and it will apply lower voltage back there to ease on the brakes to make it match your vehicle. more

Rob: How's it going everybody Rob here at etrailer.com and today we're going to be taking a look at the Tekonsha P3 Trailer Brake Controller on our 2015 Toyota Tundra. Here's what our brake controller looks like once it's installed and we chose to mount ours on the right-hand side of the steering wheel, just so we could see it pretty easily when we're driving and we have access to everything we need to. This is what we consider a traditional style brake controller, because it is going to be a box that has to mount on the dash.There are a lot more newer styles that are coming out where either is a remote style mounting system, where it's not mounted on the dash, or a very small button or dial that's mounted on the dash rather than such a big box. But with this being a traditional style brake controller, it's still is a really nice, very good functioning brake controller. Partially because it's a proportional brake controller. What that means is that when we push on the brakes in our Tundra, it's going to apply the brakes to our trailer in the same time and intensity. more

Today, on our 2016 Toyota Sienna, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Tekonsha Primus IQ trailer brake controller for one to three axles. We're also going to be installing, in conjunction with the brake controller, the universal brake controller wiring kit ETBC7.Here's what our brake controller looks like installed. The reason you would want a brake controller is if you're pulling a trailer with electric brakes. This is going to allow you to utilize those electric brakes and be more safe traveling down the road.This is a proportional brake controller. So what it does is, it applies your trailer brakes in proportion with how hard or soft you break. As you can see there is a C on the screen and that lets us know that we're connected to a trailer. more

To help us get this installed, we're also gonna be using a universal installation kit for trailer brake controllers. This trailer brake controller is gonna plug in line between your 7-Pole connector and your trailer. What's great about this is you won't have any bulky devices mounted inside your vehicle and there's also less wiring involved to get this installed since it simply plugs in. You don't have to tap into your brake switches inside the vehicle.You can control the brake controller by simply downloading Curt's app and pairing it via Bluetooth. You can see here where we'll manually apply the brakes, that it applies it here on our brake controller tester. more

Today on our 2012 Toyota 4Runner, we're gonna be taking a look at the Curt Echo. This is a proportional wireless trailer brake controller. Part number is C51180.Now the Echo is a proportional brake controller, and proportional brake controllers are much safer than the old-time delayed systems. Essentially, this applies the brakes, just like what we're doing in our car. So if we slam on the brakes in an emergency, we get that kind of effect on our trailer. If it's just slowing down in traffic, well that's the effect we're gonna have.Now just to indicate to you kinda how it works, we're gonna use the manual override since we're not heading down the road. more

To help us get that installed, we're going to be using the Tekonsha Plugin Wiring Adapter, part number 3040-P. This is what our brake controller looks like when it's installed. What this is going to be good for, it's going to allow you to apply the brakes in your trailer whilst being towed. In turn, saving the brakes in your truck so it doesn't have to stop the trailer, the trailer's going to be able to slow itself down.These arrows right here on the left side, these are going to be your gain setting. You can see it goes up to 14 and goes all the way down to zero. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2007 Toyota Tundra, we're going to be taking a look at, and showing you how to install the Tekonsha Voyager proportional trailer brake controller for one to four axles, part number 39510.To help us get that installed, we're going to be using the Tekonsha plug-in wiring adaptor, part number 3040-P.This is what our brake controller looks like when it's installed. This is going to be a proportional brake controller. What that means is it's going to have a sensor inside that going to detect the deceleration of your Tundra, and it's going to send the appropriate amount of force to our trailer brakes. For instance, if we're in an emergency situation and we have to slam on our brakes in our truck, the sensor is going to immediately send that signal to our trailer brakes to match the amount of force being applied so that our trailer can slow itself down, in turn saving the Tundra's brakes, because it's not going to have to slow or stop both the truck and the trailer.Now this is going to be a pretty simple, straight-forward brake controller. It's not going to have any screens or anything like that to look at. It simply has a light that will change colors depending on how you have it set.This know here on the right, this is going to be your gain. more

For instance if we have a quick braking situation and you apply the brakes in your truck, the same amount of force will be applied to the trailer brakes so that the trailer will stop itself instead of the truck having to stop both.Now how this is going to differ from a time delayed, on a time delayed brake controller, when you apply the brakes in the truck it's going to take a few seconds for the brakes to be applied in the trailer. All right, here's what our brake controller looks like installed. We have a trailer hooked up to it right now so you can see our LED indicator light. When you're hooked up, you have a green indicator. When you're not hooked up to your trailer there is no light, so you don't have to worry about it distracting you when you're driving your car normally.We have two key features on it. Speaker 1: Today on our 2005 Toyota Tundra, we're gonna be taking a look at, showing you how to install, the Draw-Tite I-Command Trailer Brake Controller, for 1 to 4 Axles, part number 5535. Now, to help us in our installation we're also gonna be using the Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter for Electric Brake Controllers for Toyotas and Lexuses, part number 3040-P.So here's what our break controller looks like when it's fully installed. Now, our break controller is proportional, which means it's gonna apply our trailer breaks in the same intensity that our vehicle is slowing down. It's gonna do that because there's an inertia sensor inside, so when our vehicle starts to slow down, that sensor is gonna realize how much we're slowing down, apply our trailer breaks accordingly. Now, it's also gonna feature a manual override, in case you ever need to have a time where you need to apply the trailer brakes without applying the brakes on your truck. You can grab this lever, and if we start rotating it to the side, it will apply the maximum amount of breaks if we have it all the way over.Now, our gain setting is gonna be these gray buttons right here, and it's gonna max out at 10, and will go all the way down to zero. more

Today in our 2008 Toyota Tacoma, we're going to be taking a look at and installing the Tekonsha Primus IQ Trailer Brake Controller, part number TK90160. Now, it is a proportional brake controller, which means it's going to automatically activate our trailer brakes with the same amount of pressure that our vehicle is slowing down. Since it is a proportional it's going to activate immediately and there's not going to be any pause like with time delayed brake controllers. It's going to feature three different boost settings if we push this button right here. We're going to have boost one, boost two and boost three. Each letting you adjust the initial braking power and aggressiveness. When we are at a stop light as well our brake controller's actually going to prevent the trailer brakes from overheating by reducing the power output to them during prolonged stops. It has this slider bar here, that's for the main override. more
